i4-GREEN is proud to announce its active participation in the 2024 Raw Materials Week, held from December 9 to 13 in Brussels. Organized by the European Commission, this premier event gathered over 1,400 participants from industry, government, civil society, research, and academia to discuss critical topics in the raw materials sector.

During the session titled “EU Mining Regions Matter – Lessons Learned Shaping the Future,” Manuel Vázquez Mora from the Junta de Andalucía presented i4-GREEN as a success case of regional metallic mining. His presentation highlighted the project’s innovative approaches and contributions to sustainable mining practices in Europe.

The Raw Materials Week, organized annually by the European Commission since 2016, serves as the premier policy event dedicated to raw materials in Europe. The event brings together a diverse array of stakeholders, including industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and academics, to discuss and shape policies and initiatives in the raw materials sector. The 2024 edition, held from December 9 to 13 in Brussels, attracted over 1,400 participants and featured more than 240 speakers across 35 sessions. Discussions focused on critical topics such as de-risking raw material projects, advancing technological innovation, strengthening domestic supply chains, and enhancing circularity, all aimed at ensuring a secure, sustainable, and innovative access to raw materials within the EU.

Several of our consortium partners, including Associação Cluster Portugal Mineral Resources, ICAMCyL Foundation, and Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC), were also present at the event. They engaged with attendees, sharing insights into our significant project and exploring opportunities for collaboration to advance sustainable and innovative practices in the raw materials sector.
